Sisi Appreciates Iraqi PM's Condolences over Sohag Train Crash

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi today received a phone call from Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi late on Friday over the two-train collision in Upper Egypt, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

"Kadhimi expressed sincere condolences of Iraq, the government and the people, for the victims of the painful accident that occurred today as a result of a collision of two trains in Sohag Governorate," said Rady.

The Iraqi prime minister said that "May Allah Almighty bless the victims of the accident," wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

For his part, Sisi expressed his sincere appreciation to his brother, the Iraqi Prime Minister, for his condolences and sincere feelings, pointing out that "this reflects the peculiarity of the Egyptian-Iraqi relations at the official and popular levels."

Earlier, Sisi posted on Facebook, “I have closely followed the tragic train collision that we have witnessed today in Sohag governorate.

"Whoever has caused this painful accident will receive the deterrent penalty," he stressed.
