President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met, on Sunday, with President João Lourenço of Angola on the sidelines of the 7th Mid-Year Coordination Summit of the African Union, held in Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea.
According to Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, Official Presidential Spokesman, Sisi praised Angola’s current presidency of the African Union (AU) and commended Angola’s commitment to advancing joint African action across various sectors.
In return, Lourenço expressed his appreciation for President El-Sisi and Egypt's pivotal and historic role in Africa and within the African Union framework.
The meeting also addressed peace and security issues across the continent, with a particular focus on developments in the Horn of Africa, Sudan, the Sahel region, and the Nile Basin, exploring ways to reinforce stability throughout Africa.
Additionally, the two leaders discussed strengthening bilateral relations and exploring broader avenues for cooperation in various fields, building on the momentum in their relations and aiming to fulfill the aspirations of both peoples for development and prosperity.
