Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, French President Emmanuel Macron, and leaders from more than 30 African countries are participating in the Africa–France Summit that opened Monday in Nairobi, Kenya, under the theme “Africa Forward.”
The two-day summit focuses on strengthening economic, trade, and development partnerships between France and African nations amid growing global economic and geopolitical challenges.
The event is also attended by António Guterres, the Chairperson of the African Union, senior business leaders, international financial institutions, development partners, and representatives from African and French private sector organizations.
Discussions during the summit cover a wide range of strategic issues, including peace and security, sustainable financing, reform of the international financial system, energy transition, green industrialization, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, infrastructure development, the blue economy, sustainable agriculture, food security, and healthcare cooperation.
Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the summit aims to deepen cooperation between African countries and France while advancing dialogue on investment opportunities, trade expansion, innovation, climate change, and regional integration.
According to organizers, the “Africa Forward 2026” initiative seeks to promote innovation, strengthen international partnerships, and support sustainable and inclusive economic growth across the continent.
The initiative also aims to develop practical solutions to shared global challenges ranging from economic development and governance reform to climate resilience and technological advancement.
