President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a phone call from the President of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on Wednesday and discussed recent developments of Libya, along with regional and global issues of mutual interest, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
The Algerian President expressed his sincere appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality he received during his recent visit to Egypt.
During the visit, a multitude of activities and fruitful negotiations were held between the two sides, reflecting the special characteristics of the two countries’ relations.
Tebboune stressed that Algeria shares with Egypt firm and outstanding bonds at the official and popular levels and is keen on holding intensive cooperation and bilateral coordination in all areas, notably in the economic and security fields.
On his part, Sisi valued the visit by his brother, the President of Algeria, as a dear guest of Egypt, underscoring the outstanding and fraternal relations between Egypt and Algeria.
He stressed that Egypt was looking forward to further advancing frameworks of bilateral cooperation across various levels.
Those particularly include strengthening channels of communication between the two countries at the economic level, increasing trade and boosting investments, notably through preparations to convene the next round of the Joint Egyptian-Algerian Higher Committee, at the level of prime ministers, at the earliest time possible. This is in addition to bolstering security and military cooperation between the two countries.
Sisi and Tebboune also tackled developments in a number of regional issues of mutual concern, particularly the situation in Libya.
There was an alignment of views with regard to the importance of enhancing relevant Egyptian-Algerian coordination. This aims to achieve the main goal of reinforcing the will of the Libyan people by supporting the Libyan State’s institutions and ongoing efforts to achieve security and stability and by maintaining Libya’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
