Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s deep ties with Spain, emphasizing the historical and strategic partnership between the two nations.
Speaking at a luncheon hosted by Spanish King Felipe VI, Sisi expressed appreciation for Spain’s warm hospitality and underlined his commitment to expanding economic, trade, and investment cooperation.
During his second official visit to Spain, Sisi noted that Egypt and Spain’s bilateral relations have significantly evolved, reflecting a mutual commitment to strengthening all aspects of cooperation. This commitment was formalized through the signing of a joint declaration to elevate bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership.
Sisi also extended an invitation to King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia to visit Egypt at the earliest opportunity, expressing his eagerness to welcome them at the official opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum in July 2025.
Beyond economic ties, Sisi praised Spain’s principled stance on the Palestinian cause, acknowledging Spain’s longstanding support for Palestinian rights. He stressed Egypt’s dedication to working alongside Spain to achieve a just and lasting resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
He called on Spain to continue advocating for the full implementation of a ceasefire in Gaza, the release of hostages and detainees, and the urgent entry of humanitarian aid into the war-torn enclave.
Sisi emphasized the immediate need for reconstruction in Gaza without forced displacement of its residents, while also urging an end to aggressive actions against Palestinians in the West Bank.
