Sisi Affirms Full Support for Nabil Fahmy’s Candidacy as Arab League Secretary-General

​President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received today, Sunday, Nabil Fahmy, the candidate for the position of Secretary-General of the League of Arab States.

​Mohamed El-Shenawy, Official Presidential Spokesperson stated that President Sisi affirmed Egypt's full support for Nabil Fahmy’s candidacy for this position. 

Moreover, Sisi emphasized that the unprecedented challenges currently facing the region necessitate strengthening the framework of joint Arab action and activating the role of the Arab League as the primary umbrella and collective framework for defending the interests of Arab nations and their peoples.

For his part, Fahmy expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude for President Sisi's support. 

He also underscored his aspiration to enhance the Arab League's performance and formulate an advanced, effective strategic vision capable of addressing the substantial challenges facing Arab national security. 

Furthermore, Fahmy stressed his conviction in the importance of boosting the League's role in the economic and social fields to help achieve its desired objectives.

​Moreover, President Sisi highlighted Egypt's vision, which is keen on playing constructive roles that promote peaceful solutions to regional crises.

Furthermore, he pointed out the proliferation of conflict hotspots and the escalation of international law violations, which impose grave consequences on Arab national security in its comprehensive sense. This, the President added, doubles the responsibilities of the Arab League, particularly regarding the need to develop its mechanisms to deal with regional transformations and to formulate more effective and comprehensive collective Arab positions.
