President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed on Wednesday Egypt's permanent support to all mechanisms, guaranteeing the security and stability of the Korean Peninsula.
This came during El-Sisi's meeting with South Korea’s National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-Seug, according to presidential spokesman Bassam Rady.
At the outset of the meeting, Sisi expressed Egypt's pride in the historic ties that unite both countries, praising the recent achievements made on the level of bilateral relations with South Korea.
The spokesman added that the meeting addressed ways to enhance joint bilateral cooperation in various sectors, as well as Egypt's benefitting from the Korean experience in technological industries and localizing the electric vehicle industry and related industries.
Moreover, they discussed cooperation between Cairo and Seoul to overcome the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition, Sisi and Park tackled a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern, foremost of which the Libyan crisis and the Palestinian cause.
On his part, South Korea’s National Assembly Speaker valued Egypt's political position as a cornerstone in maintaining security and stability in the Middle East and Africa, highlighting Egypt's efforts and endeavors to reach a political settlement to the crises in the region.
He also praised Egypt's efforts towards the peace process file by stabilizing calm between the Palestinian and Israeli sides and improving the humanitarian situation of Palestinians, via the recent initiative for the reconstruction of the Gaza strip.
