Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema received on Wednesday Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, upon his arrival at the headquarters of the 22nd "COMESA" summit.
During the meeting, President Hichilema welcomed the President to Lusaka and praised the achievements during Egypt's presidency of COMESA in the last period.
The Zambian President affirmed his country's keenness to develop cooperation relations with Egypt and push them towards broader horizons of joint action.
He also affirmed to continue consultations on issues and challenges facing Africa, especially in light of the pioneering Egyptian role under the leadership of President El-Sisi at the African level and efforts made in advancing the development process and maintaining peace and security in the African continent.
For his part, President El-Sisi affirmed Egypt's aspiration to boost the historical bilateral relations between the countries, as well as establish cooperation in many fields, especially trade exchange and exploring mutual investment opportunities that benefit common interests.
He also affirmed continuing to provide various aspects of support and capacity building in Zambia as well as coordination on the issues of the region and the African continent.
Sisi wished President Hatichilema success in leading COMESA.
President El-Sisi arrived earlier in Zambia to participate in the "COMESA" summit.
The president kicked off a foreign tour that includes Angola, Zambia, and Mozambique.
The tour comes within the framework of Egypt's keenness to intensify communication and coordination with its African brothers, as well as to continue strengthening its relations with the countries of the continent in various fields, especially through strengthening mutual cooperation on the economic, trade and investment levels, Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic said.
