Egypt's president Abdel-Fattah El Sisi congratulated Joe Biden on his election as the 46th president of the United States, according to Egyptian presidential spokesman Bassam Rady's statement on Saturday.
Rady added that El-Sisi's congratulatory message came after the official result of election was released announcing the historic win of Democrat Joe Biden.
Sisi also said that he looks forward to "working closely for further cooperation" with Mr Biden in order to strengthen the strategic bilateral ties between Egypt and the US in the interest of the two friendly countries and peoples.
After a lengthy count, the win was finally called today - with joyous scenes breaking out across the US.
He has defeated President Donald Trump to become the 46th president of the United States. He won Pennsylvania on Saturday to exceed the 270 electoral votes needed to win the White House.
Biden has pledged to be a "President for all Americans", while running mate Kamala Harris said it was a race "for the soul of America".
