Air raid sirens echoed across Tel Aviv on Friday morning after the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) detected fresh missile launches originating from Iran. The escalation comes amid a week of intense military activity that has increasingly drawn the two regional powers into direct confrontation.

Rising Casualty Toll

The Israeli Ministry of Health reported that in the last 24 hours alone, 140 people have been transported to hospitals across the country due to injuries sustained during Iranian missile strikes. Since the onset of full-scale hostilities last Saturday, the total number of hospitalizations has reached 1,619.

Health officials noted that while many of the injured have been discharged, 87 individuals remain under medical care, with varying degrees of severity in their conditions.

Explosions Rock the Region

Witnesses in Tel Aviv and as far west as Ramallah reported hearing massive explosions shortly after the sirens were triggered. The IDF has not yet confirmed the specific targets of the latest barrage or the success rate of the Iron Dome and Arrow interceptor systems in this latest wave.

Regional Context

The missile launches from Iran are part of a broader conflict that has seen a massive exchange of fire. Iranian state media recently claimed that over 2,000 drones and 600 missiles have been launched at U.S. and Israeli targets since the start of the week. In response, Israel and its allies have bolstered air defenses, including the deployment of European naval assets to Cyprus and the discussion of new Patriot missile batteries in the region.

The situation remains highly volatile as both nations continue to exchange long-range strikes, with the international community calling for restraint to avoid a total regional collapse.
