Renowned Egyptian-British Cardiac surgeon Sir Magdi Yacoub stated that the coronavirus could impact the lives of cardiac patients and his medical staff, and if that happened, they will not be able to provide the services the patients need.
He stated in an interview with TV presenter Sharif Amer, on program “Yahdoth Fi Masr” (Happening in Egypt) broadcast on "MBC Egypt" channel, "Therefore, we avoid all these viruses and epidemics to preserve our and the patients' lives."
"We will not be able to take care of heart diseases unless we warily deal with coronavirus, and we take that matter seriously," the heart surgeon added.
He continued: "We are keen to take care of the patients and the medical team, as a doctor without the nurses and the medical team cannot do anything for the patient, because it is an integrated system."
Yacoub affirmed that they are dedicated to serving patients and science.
He stressed: "We need to be wary of the disease, especially as achieving this balance without stopping everything is a challenge, which is something that preoccupies our minds daily."

It is worth mentioning that, on Wednesday, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared coronavirus a global pandemic as the new virus has rapidly spread to more than 121,000 people from Asia to the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.
More cases of the virus, which causes respiratory disease Covid-19, continue to emerge, with outbreaks in South Korea, Italy, and Iran.
China– the epicenter of coronavirus outbreak-is trying with all its might to confront the effects resulting from the outbreak of the new coronavirus via a series of strong and effective measures that seek to reduce the number of deaths and injuries caused by this deadly virus.
It is known that older people appear to be more vulnerable to the effects of the emerging virus.
Transmission of viruses between humans happens when someone comes into contact with an infected person’s secretions, such as droplets in a cough. They can also be transmitted by coming into contact with something an infected person has touched and then touching your mouth, nose or eyes.
