President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of the Republic of Singapore, expressed his sincere gratitude to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Mrs. Entisar El-Sisi, the President's wife, for the warm hospitality and welcome extended to him and his wife during their first visit to Egypt and the Middle East.
The Singaporean President said during his speech at a joint press conference with President Sisi on Saturday that Egypt was the first Arab country to recognize Singapore in 1965, "which was a step of great significance to us, and we will never forget this favor".
He pointed out that President Sisi's visit to Singapore in 2015 was a milestone in the history of relations between the two countries, adding, "We consider Egypt an old and dear friend, and we seek to strengthen our ties and look to the future."
