Singapore to Send Financial Aid to Morocco Earthquake Victims

Singapore's government has declared its intention to donate fifty thousand US dollars to Morocco in order to assist with rescue efforts following the devastating earthquake that struck the country.

The Singapore Red Cross has also announced its plan to contribute fifty thousand US dollars as humanitarian aid and is set to launch an appeal for donations to aid Morocco next week, according to reports from Singapore's Channel News Asia network.

Singapore's Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, extended his condolences to his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives and the damage caused by the earthquake. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that there have been no reports of Singaporean citizens being affected by the Moroccan earthquake.

The Singapore Red Cross has activated its Family Links service to assist Singapore residents in locating direct family members who may have been impacted by the disaster.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 7 on the Richter scale struck multiple Moroccan cities on Friday evening, resulting in the tragic loss of over 2,000 lives and injuries to more than 1,400 individuals, according to the latest statistics released by Moroccan authorities.
