Singapore has strongly condemned North Korea's launch of a military reconnaissance satellite, stating it violates international resolutions set by the United Nations Security Council.
In a statement relayed by Channel News Asia radio network on Saturday, the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed concerns that North Korea's latest provocation heightens tensions in the Korean Peninsula and poses risks to regional peace, security, and stability.
The ministry urged Pyongyang to refrain from further satellite launch plans, emphasizing the need for North Korea to immediately cease all provocations and adhere to its international obligations and commitments.
North Korea announced last Wednesday the successful launch of its military reconnaissance satellite "Molijeyong-1" aboard the "Chollima-1" launch vehicle into orbit. The country indicated plans to launch several more satellites in the near future.
In contrast, South Korea's Ministry of Defense confirmed that the North Korean satellite had successfully entered its orbit.
