Shoukry Urges Halt to Military Operations in Gaza

Sameh Shoukry, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, emphasized that the Rafah Crossing has been closed as it has turned into a theater for military operations, rendering it unsuitable for humanitarian work conditions. 

He pointed out the danger posed to the lives of truck drivers and humanitarian workers who are exposed to military targeting and gunfire confrontations. 

Shoukry mentioned efforts to deliver aid through the Karam Abu Salem Crossing despite the difficulties, calling for the restoration of safe conditions for crossing operations.

During a press conference held jointly with the Foreign Minister of Cyprus, Shoukry highlighted collaboration with the international community to resolve the situation in Gaza, stressing the urgent need to halt military operations that have resulted in civilian casualties and the imperative for an immediate ceasefire.

Shoukry affirmed the keenness of both countries to enhance relations and maintain continuous communication between the presidents, noting that relations have evolved into genuine strategic partnerships that consider each other's interests.

He elaborated on the bilateral discussions with his Cypriot counterpart, followed by an extensive consultation session involving delegations from both countries, indicating discussions on the distinguished strategic cooperation between the two countries and ways to enhance it. 

He also expressed anticipation for scheduling the next Joint High Committee meeting at the presidential level.

Furthermore, the Foreign Minister mentioned the trilateral relations between Egypt, Cyprus, and Greece, expressing anticipation for scheduling the trilateral summit and proper preparation for it. 

He affirmed a shared vision between the two countries towards achieving security and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean region and regional issues.
