Shoukry to Hold Meeting with German Counterpart Saturday

On Saturday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry will have a meeting with his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock.

Baerbock's visit is the first for her to Egypt and the Middle East since taking the office last year, and she will have an open press conference after the bilateral discussions.

Both officials will examine several common-interest topics on the regional and the international level, in addition to Egypt's preparation for hosting the 27th Conference of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 27) next November.

The German official also had a visit to Israel and Palestine where she met several concerned officials with the process of peace in the Middle East, and the crisis of Palestine.

Therefore, Palestinian officials urged Germany to support the efforts to establish a state with full sovereignty.

"It is worthy to mention that Shoukry held a meeting on Sunday with the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergei Ryabkov," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.

This came on the fringe of the meetings of the African Union (AU) summit, hosted in Addis Ababa.

They discussed bilateral ties between Egypt and Russia, as well as international and regional issues of mutual concern, Hafez tweeted.
