Shoukry Says Talks with Latvian FM Tackled Ukraine War, GERD

Egypt's Foreign Minister (FM) Sameh Shoukry welcomed Latvian Foreign Minister Edgers Rinkevich, who is currently visiting Cairo, pointing out that the official talks focused on aspects of bilateral ties.

In a joint press conference with his Latvian counterpart, Shoukry added that the amendment of the scientific agreement between both countries was signed, stressing Egypt's aspiration to benefit from Latvia's experiences during the recent period, as it has achieved tangible progress.

Moreover, FM affirmed that Egypt is paying great attention to modern technology, in light of the economic boom, witnessed by the country.

In addition, Shoukry said that Latvian FM is accompanied by an economic delegation that will meet with their counterparts in Egypt during the visit.

Egypt's top diplomat underlined the importance of enhancing cooperation in the commercial, tourism, and economic sectors, in light of the economic reform program led by the Egyptian government, pointing out that Latvia can benefit from investment opportunities in Egypt.

Moreover, Shoukry said that he discussed with his Latvian counterpart various key international and regional issues, foremost of which the Ukraine war, and the latest developments in Syria, Libya, and the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) files.

FM also shed light on an upcoming meeting with Latvian FM, during his participation in the Luxembourg meeting, pointing out to Egypt's keenness to strengthen the relationship with Latvia during the coming period.
