On Wednesday, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry stressed the rejection of Turkish interference in the internal affairs of the Arab countries, notably in Libya and Syria, noting that these policies have only resulted in deepening differences and pisions among the peoples of those countries.
Addressing the opening of the 155th session of the Arab League at the level of foreign ministers, Shoukry said Egypt spared no effort to bring about peace and stability in Libya and stand up to some countries' plots to spread chaos in the country.
Egypt sought to reach a political settlement in Libya based on the outcome of the Berlin conference and international legitimate resolutions in light of the strong ties between the two countries, the foreign minister said.
An Arab ministerial committee held a meeting this morning, rejecting Turkish interference in the domestic affairs of the Arab countries, Shoukry said.
Concerning the Syrian crisis, he said Syria's return to the Arab League is very crucial to maintain Arab national security, adding that the Syrian regime needs to demonstrate a will to move towards a political solution based on the Security Council resolutions.
The foreign minister further stressed that the withdrawal of foreign troops from Syria, particularly the Turkish occupation forces, will help render the political settlement in Libya a success.
Speaking about the Palestinian cause, Shoukry said that Egypt, through its involvement in the Munich Group, seeks to revive the peace talks between the Palestinians and Israelis.
Egypt supports all efforts aimed to reach a fair and just solution for the Palestinian cause in a way that helps the Palestinian people restore their legitimate rights and establish an independent state on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, the foreign minister said.
Egypt welcomed the Palestinian authority's decision to hold elections later this year, he said, adding that this move will help end the Palestinian pision.
Speaking about the situation in Yemen, the foreign minister said Egypt is committed to supporting all efforts aimed to end the conflict in Yemen, calling on the Houthi militants to respond to ceasefire initiatives and reach a political settlement based on resolutions of international legitimacy.
He also valued Arab countries' support for Egypt and Sudan's ongoing talks over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
Egypt still seeks to reach a deal, which could maintain its water rights and respect Ethiopia's right to development, Shoukry further said.
