Egypt's Foreign Minister (FM) Sameh Shoukry held phone talks on Saturday, with his French counterpart, Jean-Yves Le Drian.

Their conversation focused on ways to strengthen bilateral ties, as well as issues of mutual concern, according to Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez.

Both ministers valued the positive developments in bilateral cooperation between Egypt and France in all fields.

In this context, Shoukry welcomed the outcomes of the French Minister of Finance and Economy's visit to Egypt, last week, to follow up on the implementation of a number of existing cooperation projects and to sign important agreements.

Moreover, the two ministers also discussed the latest developments in the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and its negative repercussions on the global economy.

In this regard, FM reviewed the steps taken by Egypt to contain these effects, calling on France - within the framework of its presidency of the European Union, and within the framework of the international financial institutions- to provide economic and political support to Egypt to help it deal with the impacts of the Russia-Ukraine crisis.
