On Monday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held a meeting with the President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Werner Hoyer in Luxembourg, during which they discussed ways of strengthening the bank’s investments in Egypt in many fields, especially the green transformation.
In a statement, Ambassador Ahmed Hafez, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the two sides discussed cooperation in the framework of the ongoing preparations for Egypt's hosting of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27).
On the other hand, the Minister of Foreign Affairs met with the Speaker of the Luxembourg Parliament, Fernand Etgen and discussed parliamentary, cultural, political and economic cooperation between Egypt and Luxembourg.
Shoukry is currently visiting Luxembourg to attend the ninth session of the EU-Egypt Association Council.
During the meeting, Shoukry announced that Egypt intends to build a platform to export eastern Mediterranean gas to Europe.
“Egypt has proven that it is a reliable partner for the European Union, and we are facing major challenges in terms of energy, food and inflation,” Shoukry said.
He said that the European Union will give Egypt 100 million euros, and the Egyptian-European meeting will endorse the partnership plan for the next five years.
Egypt announced on Thursday the signing of the tripartite memorandum of understanding between Egypt, Israel and the EU to transport gas to Europe using the Egyptian infrastructure and facilities.
