Foreign Minister (FM) Sameh Shoukry held talks with Libya's Government of National Unity (GNU) Prime Minister Abdel-Hamid Al-Dabaiba in Tripoli.

The meeting touched on the latest developments in Libya, as Shoukry affirmed Egypt's keenness to support sisterly Libya within the framework of bilateral ties between both countries.

Moreover, FM noted that Egypt always seeks to strengthen various endeavors that would lead to a comprehensive political settlement, and the implementation of the political roadmap agreed upon by all sides, as well as the exit of all foreign military and armed forces, in a way that meets the Libyan people's aspirations to move forward towards a better future and contributes to Libya’s restoration of its security, stability, territorial integrity, and sovereignty.

The meeting also discussed ways to boost bilateral ties between both countries, within the framework of implementing the outcomes of the joint Egyptian-Libyan Higher Committee, which was hosted in Cairo last September, in order to achieve more cooperation between Cairo and Tripoli, and serve the common interests of the two brotherly peoples.

On his part, the Libyan PM expressed his appreciation for Egypt's role and its sincere efforts to support stability in Libya and advance all paths of political settlement as well as the convergence of views between all Libyan parties, praising the momentum witnessed in relations between the two countries at various levels.

It is worth mentioning that, Shoukry arrived earlier Thursday in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.

He took part in an international conference to support stability in Libya, Hafez added.
