Shoukry, British counterpart discuss situation in Gaza

 Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received a phone call from UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs David Cameron, within the framework of consultation and coordination regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip, and the paths of action needed to end the humanitarian crisis in the Strip, Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said. 

The two ministers exchanged assessments about the deteriorating humanitarian and security conditions in the Gaza Strip, and the regional and international movements to achieve a ceasefire, exchange hostages, and bring full humanitarian aid into the Strip.

Ambassador Abu Zeid added that the call focused on means of coordination between international and regional actors in order to end the war in the Gaza Strip and put an end to the worsening humanitarian catastrophe. In this context, shoukry stressed that Egypt is continuing its efforts at all levels to facilitate reaching an agreement to achieve a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip in order to preserve the lives of Palestinian civilians.
