Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received a phone call from Anthony Blinken, Secretary of State of the United States of America, to discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip, Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman for the foreign Ministry said.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman explained that the two ministers discussed the proposal announced by US President Biden regarding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and the mediation efforts undertaken by the Arab Republic of Egypt, the State of Qatar, and the United States of America in this regard.
During the call, Shoukry stressed Egypt’s support for every effort aimed at ending the Israeli war against the Gaza Strip, reaching an immediate and permanent ceasefire, exchanging hostages and detainees, and ensuring full access to humanitarian aid without obstacles for the Palestinian people.
Ambassador Abu Zeid added that the two ministers discussed various aspects of the current humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where Shoukry stressed the necessity of opening all land crossings between Israel and Gaza for the entry of aid, and providing safe conditions for the work of international relief crews in the Strip.
The two ministers agreed to continue close consultation and coordination to continue pushing towards ending the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip and putting an end to the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Strip.
