Shoukry, Blinken discuss efforts to protect Palestinian civilians

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry in Cairo.

 Shoukry and Blinken discussed ongoing efforts to protect Palestinian civilians, increase humanitarian aid to Gaza, and ensure an immediate ceasefire that includes the release of hostages, Matthew Miller, the pokesperson for the United States Department of State said. 

 They also addressed ways to move forward towards establishing a Palestinian state with security guarantees for Israel.

On the other hand, Blinken reiterated the United States’ rejection of any forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.

Shoukry and Blinken also discussed shared goals for achieving regional stability, including responding to Houthi attacks in the Red Sea, addressing instability in Libya, and ending the war in Sudan.
