On the sidelines of the Copenhagen Climate Ministerial Conference, Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry and COP 27 President met with Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Simon Stiell.
During the meeting, they discussed the best ways of implementing COP 27's outcomes, especially the activation of the loss and damage fund.
The Egyptian Minister hailed the UNFCCC's pivotal role in supporting COP 27 hosted in Sharm El Sheikh, noting that it contributed to the success of the conference and the production of outcomes that would reinforce climate work, according to a statement.
Shokry also presented the strategy of communication with parties involved in climate action to maximize their efforts and increase their commitment to negotiations, which helped with achieving the outcomes hoped for at COP 27.
