Farida Shobashi, a member of the House of Representatives, will head the opening session of the legislative term of the 2021 Parliament, in her capacity as the oldest member.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi issued, Friday, a decree calling on the House of Representatives to convene on Tuesday and kick off the next legislative term.
According to the procedures followed, Shobashi will preside over the opening session, assisted by the two youngest members. She will be the first woman to head the House of Parliament in the history of Egypt.
She will read out the president's decision to call the parliament to convene, and the decisions of the National Elections Commission about the election results.
Then, she will recite the oath while the two youngest members standing next to her on the podium.
During the opening session, the new Speaker will be elected and take over the chairmanship of the session from Shobashi.
