Shmyhal: Ukraine to Ask for Financial Support from IMF, WB

Ukrainian Prime Minister (PM) Denys Shmyhal said that his country will ask for financial support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB).

In press remarks, he denied the surrender of his forces in Mariupol, saying, "The city still has not fallen."

Moreover, he added that Ukrainian forces continue to control some parts of the city.

On Wednesday, Russian Defense Military announced that more than 1,000 Ukrainian soldiers have surrendered in Mariupol for weeks.

The ministry stated that Mariupol in Ilyich Iron and Steel factor, 1,026 Ukrainian soldiers from Marine Brigade 36, have laid down their weapons and surrendered.

“As a result of the successful progress of the Russian forces and police units of Donetsk, 1,026 Ukrainian soldiers from the 36th Marine Brigade voluntarily disarmed and surrendered,” Ministry spokesperson Igor Konashenkov said.

Konashenkov mentioned among these soldiers are 162 officers, and 47 women, stressing that 151 of the injured received first aid at the site and were then sent to a local hospital for treatment.
