Informed sources reported that 34 people were injured, according to the New York Post on Sunday.
The Mexican Navy announced in a post on its X platform that the academic training ship Cuauhtemoc was damaged in the collision, preventing it from continuing its voyage. It added that the status of personnel and material is being reviewed by maritime and local authorities, who are providing assistance.
"The ship's sails hit the bridge, and there were sailors on board. It was crazy," added an eye witness. "We were standing near the bridge, and we all started running. Then I saw people hanging from the sails."
