Spanish journalist Pepe Álvarez revealed on platform X that Pérez has decided to resign as Real Madrid president in 2026, confirming that his current mandate will not continue until 2028.
According to Álvarez, Pérez wants to ensure that a strong and well-structured administrative system is in place to succeed him, regardless of whether club members support holding an official referendum.
Florentino Pérez first took charge of Real Madrid from July 2000 to February 2006, before returning in June 2009 and serving until today. During his leadership, Real Madrid achieved an extraordinary list of titles.
