Egyptian actor, Sherif Mounir decided to take a break from social media and not to interact through it with his fans.
The decision comes following the altercation that took place over a photo of Mounir, Ahmed El Sakka, and Ahmed Rizk, that were published from his vacation, on August 31.
"Here are the celebrities ... Living their lives ... Going on vacation... and not caring about people or anything ... Leaving people to suffer through the heat.. Shame on you .. feel the suffering of the people.." he captioned.
The post led to many altercations between Mounir and some of his followers as many deemed the way he commented on the photo as provocative.
In a statement posted Thursday morning to his Instagram account, Mounir announced that he is stepping away from social media, following the hatred he was recently exposed to from some of his followers.
He noted that when he posted the picture and wrote his comment, he was preceding the comments of some followers, who always hurl abusive content against celebrities, however, the discussion escalated and entered into a direction he did not like, pointing out that he should not have to level up the discussion the way he did.
