Convoys carrying shelter and humanitarian assistance have lined up at Egypt’s Rafah crossing, preparing to enter the Gaza Strip to support civilians affected by recent storms and severe weather conditions.
The first batch of the 108th aid convoy, organized by the Egyptian Red Crescent, includes hundreds of trucks loaded with thousands of tons of relief supplies. The shipments comprise food baskets, medical supplies, fuel, gas, and gasoline, in addition to critical shelter materials such as winter clothing, tents, blankets, mattresses, and mobile sanitation units.
The aid is intended to address worsening humanitarian conditions following heavy rainfall and a recent low-pressure weather system that flooded displacement camps, uprooted tents, and further damaged Gaza’s fragile infrastructure.
Trucks are proceeding first to the Al-Awja crossing, where they undergo inspection by Israeli authorities before moving on to Kerem Shalom for unloading. In recent weeks, many trucks have been forced to return to the Egyptian side of Rafah after being denied entry.
Fuel shipments remain particularly vital, as they are required to keep hospitals and bakeries operating amid widespread power shortages across the Gaza Strip.
