In a significant political development, the Pakistani Parliament elected Shehbaz Sharif as the country's Prime Minister for the second time in history, marking a pivotal moment in Pakistan's governance. This announcement was made by the official Pakistani television, confirming Sharif's victory in securing the prime ministerial position once again.

The National Assembly of Pakistan shared the agenda for Sunday's session on its "X" account, which included a special session dedicated to the election of a new Prime Minister. The nomination papers were submitted and scrutinized on Saturday, setting the stage for the parliamentary vote.

During the voting process, each political party or coalition within the Parliament presented its candidate, with the members casting their votes under the supervision of the Parliament's Speaker. To win the prime ministerial seat, a candidate must secure a majority of votes from the 336-member Pakistani Parliament, requiring at least 169 votes.

According to Pakistani media reports, the main contenders for the position were Shehbaz Sharif, representing the alliance of the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz Sharif faction, and Umar Ayub, the candidate from the Sunni Council and a member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party.

This election underscores the dynamic nature of Pakistani politics and sets the stage for Shehbaz Sharif's leadership, as the nation anticipates his approach to addressing the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
