Shanghai will host an international summer school focused on BRICS cooperation and global governance from July 11 to 31, 2026, bringing together students and early-career researchers from across member nations, according to TV BRICS.
Organized by Fudan University, the three-week program will take place at its Handan Campus and aims to deepen participants’ understanding of BRICS collaboration, China’s global role, and the evolving dynamics of the Global South.
The academic curriculum will center on BRICS cooperation in global governance, covering topics such as institutional reform, energy and artificial intelligence partnerships, sustainable development financing through the New Development Bank, and engagement with regions including Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and South Asia.
The program also features a cultural component designed to introduce participants to life in Shanghai, including organized exchanges and field visits along the Huangpu River.
Organizers expect around 40 participants, including undergraduate and graduate students as well as research fellows. Approximately half will receive full support covering tuition, accommodation, and insurance, while the remaining attendees will be self-funded.
Applications are open until April 30, with final selections to be announced on May 12.
