Disney confirmed Marvel’s upcoming movie “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” will only be released in cinemas.

CEO Bob Chapek, announced during a Q2 earnings call, that the Simu Liu-led movie would be released exclusively in cinemas for 45 days before it is shown on a streaming service.

Chapek stated the decision was based on recent signs of increased confidence in the moviegoing.

“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” will be Disney’s first theatrical release since the 20th Century film "The New Mutants".

The movie centers around Asian superhero, Shang-Chi, as he confronts his past and battle with the villainous Ten Rings organization.

It is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and also co-stars Michelle Yeoh, Awkwafina, Florian Munteanu, Tony Leung, Ronny Chieng, and others.

“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” hits theaters on September 3.

The same strategy will be applied for Disney's big-budget movie "Free Guy".

The comedy-action movie stars Ryan Reynolds, Taika Waititi, Channing Tatum, Joe Keery, Jodie Comer, and others.

It is directed by Shawn Levy and written by Matt Lieberman and Zak Penn.

The plot centers around a bank teller Guy (Reynolds), who discovers one day that he is a background character in a game entitled “Free City”, which will soon be taken offline.
