Several people were injured in Myanmar on Sunday as police cracked down on demonstrations against military rule by firing stun grenades, tear gas and by firing into the air, witnesses and media said.

In photos posted by media outlets, many bloodied people were seen being helped away from demonstrations in Yangon's main city, but it was unclear if they were wounded by rubber bullets or live fire.

According to "Myanmar Now" news agency, People had been "gunned down," but it did not elaborate.
