Several people were killed and at least 10 others injured after a chemical tank exploded at a packaging plant in Washington on Tuesday, according to authorities.
The explosion occurred at a facility operated by Nippon Dynawave Packaging in the city of Longview, where firefighters responded to reports of a blast involving a tank containing chemicals used in paper manufacturing.
Emergency officials said multiple victims suffered chemical burns and other injuries, with several transported to local hospitals. Among the injured was a firefighter.
Scott Goldstein confirmed an unknown number of fatalities and said the injured ranged from minor to critical condition.
Authorities said the tank had a capacity of around 80,000 gallons and was approximately 60% full at the time of the explosion.
