Palestinian farmers were attacked by settlers on Sunday while working their land in the Mufia Plain area of the northern Jordan Valley in the West Bank.
Mu'taz Bisharat, the official in charge of the Jordan Valley file in the Tubas Governorate, stated in a press release that a group of settlers attacked the farmers while they were cultivating their land and sprayed them with pepper spray.
Bisharat explained that Israeli occupation forces arrived at the scene and intervened to protect the settlers before detaining the two brothers, Hussein and Muhammad Yusuf Bisharat.
Official Israeli statistics show a significant increase in settler violence against Palestinians in the West Bank, registering a 25% increase during 2025, according to the Haaretz newspaper.
Approximately 750,000 Israeli settlers reside in the West Bank, including some 250,000 in East Jerusalem, amidst escalating daily attacks aimed at tightening the noose around Palestinians and forcing them to leave.
During 2025, the West Bank witnessed some 23,827 attacks carried out by the army and settlers against Palestinians and their property, resulting in the deaths of 14 Palestinians. Settler attacks have also led to the displacement of 13 Bedouin communities, comprising 197 families, since the beginning of last year, according to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission.
