The Serbian Ambassador to Cairo, Miroslav Tomanovic, has confirmed that relations between Serbia and Egypt have entered a "golden age" following the historic visit of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Belgrade in July 2022. This visit marked the signing of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between the two nations.

This statement was made during his speech at the celebration of Serbia's National Day organized by the Serbian Embassy in Cairo, attended by a host of senior figures, ambassadors, and diplomats accredited in Egypt.

Tomanovic highlighted the mutual respect that forms the basis of the relationship between Egypt and Serbia, noting that there have been high-level visits between the two countries. This includes visits from the Serbian Deputy Prime Minister, Ministers of Defense, Trade, and Family to Egypt, and reciprocal visits to Belgrade by the Speaker of the Egyptian Parliament, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, and a delegation led by Mohamed El-Orabi.

He also pointed out the significance of the forthcoming trade agreement between Egypt and Serbia, which is expected to be signed soon, emphasizing its importance for business communities and mutual cooperation.

Additionally, Tomanovic mentioned the recent signing of a cooperation and technology transfer agreement between the Serbian company "Neomedic" and "El-Hady for Trading and Supplies," a subsidiary of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement.

The Serbian Ambassador commended Egyptian efforts to end violence, secure the release of hostages, and provide necessary humanitarian aid to Gaza, underlining the importance of achieving peace for both the Palestinian and Israeli peoples.
