Serbia is prepared to support peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic suggesting that China and the United States take on the role of primary mediators.
"No matter what our Ukrainian and Russian friends ask for, we always stand ready to help wherever we can. But we are too small. Let [Chinese President] Xi Jinping and [US President Joe] Biden do it," Vucic told Serbia’s RTS when asked about the possibility of mediating Russia-Ukraine talks.
Following the commencement of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, Vucic reaffirmed Serbia’s support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity while clarifying that Serbia would not impose sanctions on Russia.
He emphasized Serbia's perception of both Russia and Ukraine as fraternal nations and expressed disappointment over the ongoing conflict in Eastern Europe.
