Serbia Celebrates Egyptian Culture

Dr. Inas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture, has flown to the Serbian capital Belgrade, accompanied by a delegation of 60 artists, writers and intellectuals to participate in Belgrade International Book Fair.

She will be received by the Ambassador of Egypt in Serbia to participate in the Belgrade Book Fair events held from 20 to 27 October.

The book fair will hosts a pavilion of the Egyptian General Book Organization, headed by Dr. Haitham El-Haj.

The Egyptian pavilion includes 535 titles of The Organization’s publications and of the publications of the various sectors of the Ministry of Culture. This, in addition to presenting intellectual and artistic activities highlighting the unique Egyptian identity and creative movement in the Egyptian society.
Abdel Dayem affirmed that Egypt’s participation, as a guest of honor in the 64th Edition of Belgrade International Fair- one of the oldest specialized exhibitions in Europe.
It reflects the influential role of soft power in communicating with nations and it comes within the state’s efforts to consolidate the bonds of friendship and love; it strengthens the relations with different nations of the world.
This participation also is considered a new gate opened in the field of knowledge and exchanging cultures, as the Book Organization issued three new titles in Serbian language to open new horizons to introduce the Egyptian creativity.

On his part, the Head of the Book Organization said that the Egyptian pavilion was designed to reflect the Egyptian civilization on an area of 200 meters.

The pavilion also organizes a number of activities including:- book signing ceremonies, seminars, screening films produced by The National Cinema Center, Concerts for Cairo Opera Ballet, various art workshops, Arabic calligraphy exhibitions, cartoon show for children, performances of Arajose, musical and poetry evenings .

All these activities will be held in cooperation with great Egyptian creators- Mohamed Salmawy, Mohamed Baghdadi, Hani Shams, Hassan Zaki, Mai Khaled, Mansoura Ezz El-Din, Salwa Bakr, Sherif Bakr, Dr. Tarek El Taher, Dr. Mamdouh El Damaty, Dr. Anwar Mogheith, head of the National Center for Translation, Khaled Galal- head of the Cultural Production Sector, Dr. Ahmed Awwad- head of the Culture Palaces Organization and others.

The program of the Egyptian mission also includes holding a meeting between the Egyptian Minister of Culture with her Serbian counterpart Valdan Vuko Saveljevic in the Serbian headquarters of the Serbian Ministry of Culture and Information.

This will be followed by a visit to the National Museum in Belgrade, a press conference, as well as visits to the institutions participating in “The European Capital of Culture – 2021”.

The mission will also hold a meeting with Igor Morovic, head of the government of the autonomous region of Vojvodina, the mayor of Novi Sad and The head of Novi Sad Foundation.

It is noteworthy that Egypt’s first participation in Belgrade International Book Fair came in the last 63 Edition, during which a cooperation protocol was signed between Cairo International Book Fair and Belgrade Fair.

It was also agreed on the participation of Egypt as the guest of honor of the 64th Edition, which will be attended by a number of sectors of the Ministry of Culture including: Cairo Opera House, the National Center for Translation, the National Organization of Books And Documents, the General Organization of Culture Palaces , Cultural Development Fund , the National Cinema Center
