Two people were killed and five others were injured when an attacker threw an incendiary bomb at a passenger bus in the Senegalese capital, Dakar, the Interior Ministry said on Tuesday.
Interior Minister Antoine Felix Abdoulaye Diouma stated that the attackers robbed the passengers of their money and mobile phones, promising to find and arrest the culprits.
The bus driver reported that a group of masked young men boarded the bus and humiliated him, while one of them proceeded to ignite and throw the incendiary bomb.
This incident occurred amidst ongoing protests in the country following the arrest of prominent opposition figure, Ousmane Sonko, who was a presidential election candidate.
Several cities in Senegal have witnessed clashes between protesters and the police, with demonstrators denouncing France and accusing the Senegalese government of being a "puppet" and "agent" of France.
