Pakistan's Minister for Climate Change, Senator Shireen Rehman, said a delay in climate justice is tantamount to implementing the death penalty for the world's most vulnerable.
The statements of the Pakistani Minister of Climate Change, Senator Shireen Rahman, came during her visit to the Pakistan Pavilion on the sidelines of the meeting of the 27th session of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) held in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, according to a press release.
In response to a question about expectations from the negotiations of losses and damages, Senator Rahman stated that these are political decisions that are waiting to be taken by the negotiating parties, and are not based on financial or economic comfort. Now is the time to ask for clarity and timelines.
"We can't make the entire COP27 hub on hostile demand, which is why we haven't gone into the compensation business," she added.
