The Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority (SCZone) witnessed the signing of a contract with Guide Automotive Technology to establish a fully integrated industrial complex for the production of electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries, and water purification membranes.
The ceremony took place at the SCZone headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, attended by Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of SCZone, alongside senior executives from Orascom Industrial Development and Guide Automotive Technology. The contract was signed by Amr El-Batriq, CEO of Orascom Industrial Development, and Li Huichao, Chairman of Guide Automotive Technology.
The project will be implemented within the Orascom Industrial Development area at Ain Sokhna, covering 70,000 square meters with a total investment of USD 63.9 million, expected to generate around 1,000 direct jobs. The first phase will focus on producing electric vehicles with two, three, and four wheels, followed by the manufacturing of lithium-ion batteries to supply both domestic and international markets, and later the production of reverse osmosis membranes for water purification and desalination.
Chairman Walid Gamal El-Din emphasized that the project represents a strategic addition to advanced technology industries in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. He highlighted its role in supporting industrial localization, increasing domestic content, reducing imports, promoting sustainable industrial practices, and positioning the SCZone as a hub for modern industrial investments targeting local, regional, and international markets.
