The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) welcomed a high-level delegation from the Chinese city of Nanjing to explore new avenues for investment cooperation and strengthen economic ties between Egypt and China.

The delegation, which visited the SCZone headquarters in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital on Wednesday, was led by Zhou Hongbo, Member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China in Jiangsu Province and Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of Nanjing.

The delegation also included Zhao Liuqing, Minister Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, senior officials from the Nanjing municipal government, representatives of economic and trade institutions, and executives from several Chinese companies operating in sectors ranging from international trade and logistics to medical and engineering industries.

The visit forms part of the follow-up activities to the China (Nanjing)–Egypt (Cairo) Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum, which was held in Cairo on June 22, and aimed to deepen commercial engagement between the two countries.

The Chinese delegation was received by Captain Ahmed Gamal, Deputy Chairman of the SCZone for the Southern Region, alongside a number of senior executives from the authority.

During the discussions, both sides reviewed opportunities to expand economic and industrial cooperation and examined potential partnerships in several strategic sectors. Particular focus was placed on industries linked to the production of components for renewable and new energy technologies, automotive manufacturing and supply chains, and medical industries.

Officials highlighted the growing role of Chinese investments within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, noting that Chinese companies have become one of the most significant contributors to industrial and investment activity across the zone. The continued influx of Chinese capital reflects increasing confidence among Chinese businesses in Egypt's investment environment and the opportunities offered by the SCZone.

The meeting also showcased the competitive advantages that have helped position the Suez Canal Economic Zone as one of the region’s leading industrial and logistics hubs. These include the integration of ports and industrial zones, modern infrastructure, strategic access to international shipping routes, and a streamlined one-stop-shop system designed to simplify administrative procedures and accelerate project implementation.

Both parties emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation during the coming period to attract additional industrial investments and further enhance economic integration between Egypt and China.
