The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) and the General Authority for Roads, Bridges and Land Transport (GARBLT) signed an agreement to develop the port of Ain Sokhna.
Yehia Zaki, Chairman of the SCZone said on Wednesday the all construction and restoration works will be completed within two years, coinciding with the completion of the Ain Sokhna-El Alamein high-speed train project for passengers and goods.
The development will present a comprehensive integrated project, making the port equivalent to the world's most distinguished peers and a focal gateway to the Red Sea.

Zaki indicated that the planned construction and maintenance work includes, new platforms, port terminals, unloading areas, and container terminals.
The agreement comes with a national project to develop all ports at the state level, with the aim of attracting more investments, increasing the competitive advantage, and transforming the facilities into a regional and African logistics center that serves global trade.
