The General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) began high-level discussions with Abu Dhabi Ports Group, aiming to support global supply chains and localize industry in the region, in a strategic move to enhance regional logistics integration and expand cooperation in the ports and digital services sector.

This came during the second day of the SCZone's delegation official visit to the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi.

Walid Gamal El Din, Chairman of the SCZone met with Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports Group to discuss opportunities for joint cooperation and exchange of expertise.

During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of integration between two of the region's most prominent economic entities, in light of the strategic directions of both Egypt and the UAE to enhance regional economic cooperation, particularly in the areas of port development, transportation technology, and digital services.

Abu Dhabi Ports officials reviewed the group's key activities, which span five key sectors: digital services, economic cities and free zones, logistics, shipping and maritime services, and port management. The group currently operates approximately 10 marine terminals, and its free zones cover an area exceeding 550 km², serving more than 1,500 local and international customers.

Following the meeting, the delegation toured the group's digital services complex and visited the headquarters of Maqta Technologies, the group's technology arm. They were briefed on the latest digital transformation solutions implemented in the ports and logistics sectors, including the one-stop shop system, the smart port management platform, the transport control system, and customs automation and risk monitoring systems.

Gamal El Din emphasized the Authority's commitment to deepening its strategic partnership with Abu Dhabi Ports Group, particularly in the Sokhna and East Port Said port projects, as well as the Authority's industrial zone. He noted that the Authority seeks to localize industry and enhance its role in global supply chains, particularly in light of the current geopolitical challenges impacting international trade.

On his part, Al Shamsi welcomed the expansion of cooperation with the Suez Canal Economic Zone, highlighting the group's successes in various business sectors. He emphasized that cooperation between the two parties will contribute to achieving mutual benefits across the region.

He also noted that the group recently received an A1 credit rating from Moody's with a stable outlook, reflecting the strength of its financial performance and its ability to expand sustainably.
