Waleid Gamal El-Dien, chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, met with Swedish Ambassador Dag Juhlin-Dannfelt on Tuesday to discuss investment opportunities and potential areas of cooperation within the economic zone, as Egypt seeks to attract additional foreign investment into strategic sectors.
During the meeting, held at the SCZONE headquarters, Gamal El-Dien outlined investment opportunities across a range of sectors, including ports and logistics services, automotive manufacturing, data centers and green fuel projects.
He said the economic zone’s strategic location along major global trade routes, combined with its integrated industrial and port infrastructure, skilled workforce and streamlined investor services, had strengthened its attractiveness to international investors.
Gamal El-Dien added that these advantages had helped the zone attract more than $16 billion in investments over the past four years, reflecting growing confidence in Egypt’s industrial and logistics platform.
The discussions also focused on opportunities for deeper cooperation with Swedish companies and the potential for expanding Swedish investments in sectors aligned with Egypt’s industrial and sustainability goals.
In turn, Ambassador Juhlin-Dannfelt noted that several Swedish companies are already operating in Egypt and said interest among Swedish businesses in exploring opportunities within the Suez Canal Economic Zone is increasing.
The meeting comes as SCZONE intensifies efforts to position itself as a regional hub for manufacturing, logistics and clean energy projects, supported by government initiatives aimed at attracting foreign direct investment and expanding export-oriented industries.
