SCZone Chairman Meets with US Tech, Energy, and Infrastructure Firms to Attract Investments

The Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), Walid Gamal El-Din, continued his promotional tour in the United States, holding a series of high-level meetings with major companies in the fields of advanced technology, artificial intelligence, energy, infrastructure, and water treatment. 

These meetings, held in the U.S. capital, Washington D.C., aim to strengthen cooperation and attract U.S. investments to the industrial and service sectors within the Suez Canal Economic Zone.

The day began with a meeting at ServiceNow’s headquarters in Washington, where Gamal El-Din and his team discussed potential collaborations in digital transformation and the development of operational systems within ports and industrial zones. 

The discussions focused on how ServiceNow’s advanced solutions could enhance the efficiency of services offered by the SCZone to investors, as outlined in a press release issued by the SCZone.

Gamal El-Din also held a bilateral meeting with Rivian Automotive, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer. The meeting, attended by Julie Hoenigges, Chief Operations Officer, and Christina Kinsman, Director of Investment and Trade at Rivian, explored opportunities for collaboration in manufacturing, supply chains, and supporting U.S. companies' access to regional markets via the SCZone.

Additionally, the SCZone chairman participated in a roundtable organized by the American Association of Exporters and Importers (AAEI), attended by the association's CEO, Eugene Lani, and representatives from 26 American and international companies operating in various sectors, including chemical industries, automotive manufacturing, medical devices, logistics, and commercial consulting, as well as pharmaceuticals, food, and electronics.

During the meeting, Gamal El-Din highlighted the incentives and opportunities available in the SCZone, emphasizing it as an integrated platform for manufacturing and logistics services, designed to support the expansion of global companies in the region.

As part of efforts to support the energy sector, Gamal El-Din also met with Mark Menezes, CEO of the U.S. Energy Association (USEA). They discussed the SCZone’s role as a hub for green industries, renewable energy, and green hydrogen projects, with an emphasis on the region’s potential to attract investments in clean energy projects, aligning with Egypt’s goals for a sustainable energy transition.

In a separate meeting, Gamal El-Din met with Callista Redmond, Vice President of NVIDIA, to discuss the company’s expertise in artificial intelligence technologies, API development, high-performance computing, and advanced mobile applications. 

The two sides also discussed the progress of port digitization, with the SCZone chairman emphasizing that smart solutions are the future of port and logistics management. He stressed that cooperation with specialized companies in this field would help develop smart industrial zones within the SCZone.

The chairman also met with AquaTech Vice President Gabriel Bilathi to explore the company’s work in desalination technologies, including brine extraction and green steel production, as well as water resource management within industrial zones.

Additionally, Gamal El-Din met with representatives from Rapiscan Systems, a company specializing in security and inspection solutions. The meeting, which included Daryl Jones, Senior Vice President, Gina Dunay, Vice President of International Affairs, and Bernard Zarour, Sales Director, focused on the company’s latest technologies for securing ports and logistical hubs. 

Gamal El-Din emphasized the importance of enhancing industrial security and inspection systems at ports as a key element in developing logistics services and boosting the SCZone’s capacity to attract high-quality investments.
