Saudi Arabia announced that schools in some regions will be shut down after heavy rains fell in Mecca, triggering torrential rains in some areas across the Kingdom.
The Saudi National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) alerted several regions of rainfall ranging from medium to heavy, starting Sunday evening until Thursday in Jeddah, Rabigh, Taif, Jamum, Al Kamil, Khulais, Al Laith, Al Qunfudhah, Al Ardiyat, Adham, Maysan.
A spokesman for the Saudi Civil Defense stressed the necessity to adhere to the precautions and stay away from places where torrents and valleys flowed.
Videos on social media showed vehicles stuck in the middle of flooded roads in the area and rain lashing other parts of Saudi Arabia.
Accordingly, Taif University as well as other educational institutions announced the suspension of in-person classes due to the weather, provided that attendance will be online.
