At least nine people have been killed in a school shooting in southern Turkey, including eight students, with 13 others injured, according to Interior Minister Mustafa Ciftci.
The attack took place in the city of Kahramanmaras, where the minister said several of the wounded are in critical condition, with six receiving intensive care treatment.
Local authorities reported that the shooter, an eighth-grade student, entered the school carrying multiple firearms and ammunition believed to belong to his father, a former police officer. He then opened fire inside classrooms, targeting younger students and causing panic and chaos.
Officials said the attacker later died after turning the weapon on himself inside the school. Emergency services rushed the injured to nearby hospitals, where a number of victims underwent surgery.
The incident follows another shooting in the nearby province of Sanliurfa just days earlier, in which a former student injured 16 people before taking his own life.
The latest attack has raised renewed concerns over school safety and access to firearms, as authorities continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
